We’ve finally witnessed the biggest moment of the year, the T20 World Cup Victory. The journey of this tournament has been intriguing and mind-boggling for all. Indians fans’ heart rate was on top when Heinrich Klassen stole 24 runs in a single over of “Bapu” aka AXAR PATEL, but the hard work paid off and the lucky charm of our players shined.

Virat Kohli’s Struggle in T20 World Cup

Team India’s position in this tournament has been strong since the start, batters like Rishabh Pant, Suryakumar Yadav and of course, the Captain, the Hitman, Rohit Sharma were on full strike. Bowlers were also shining through the difficult situations. But a name was not leaving the minds of the cricket lovers and that was “VIRAT KOHLI.” “What happened to Virat?” “Why is he not performing?” “He just plays for IPL!” “This team doesn’t deserve him”, these were some of the common questions and phrases that were all over the internet and leading the mouths of the people. Netizens took it too far by trending "Chokli" due to his poor performance. But, have they ever thought that the great player himself must be feeling the burden of not performing at such a grand stage? Well, the answer to the question is a Yes!

Virat Kohli’s Conversation with PM Modi

Yesterday, on the 4th of July, the World Cup-winning Indian Cricket Team received a grand welcome in India. The players took the 16.5-hour-long flight and landed in New Delhi to meet the Prime Minister of the nation. In the meeting with PM Modi, Virat addressed the issue he faced during the tournament and expressed his worry. The Cricketer said he felt the pressure of not performing well throughout the tournament on the day of the final. When PM Modi asked about his 75 runs as a whole and then 76 in the final inning, what was in his mind? the cricketer's reply was rather indifferent he said, “I’ll not be able to forget that day, I couldn’t contribute to the tournament the way I wanted” “I also told Rahul that I didn’t give justice to the Team and Myself yet” he added. Virat Kohli was underconfident as he opened for the team in the final. In such a critical situation, the moral support of the fans is of utmost importance but the cricketer experienced something opposite like always.

Winning Moment and Retirement

The Head Coach of the Team, Rahul Dravid displayed belief in Virat and said “When the situation comes I believe you’ll perform.” He lived every ball after the turnaround in the match, Virat said, “It was hard to explain the feelings during that time.” he added while talking to the PM. After winning the World Cup, Virat seemed emotional, and his unprecedented retirement announcement shocked the world. He said it’s time for the young generation to take over the command and fight for India. Virat and Rohit’s winning juncture was one of the best moments fans experienced in this tournament. Both of them retired together too.

What can we learn?

Virat Kohli’s experience in his final and last T20I match was something that every individual can take note of. The cricketer felt that when the Ego takes you over, you don’t perform. He felt he was in bad condition throughout when he was overconfident about his performance and that he would do great. However, he performed for the team once he left his ego behind.

All I can say is “Der aaye Durust aaye.”
